Adventure 2011 – April/June 2011

April 19, 2011 Tuesday – Luzern - Interlaken

Slide Show

I drag all my stuff down the 3 floors at Viki's,

I catch a bus to the train station, buy a ticket to Interlaken, and head to track 12 for the next train.
I'm going first class again.
Come on USA, lets get some nice trains.
Another scenic ride from Luzern to Interlaken.
Nice place, this Switzerland.
A little lunch for me, some paprika chips and a box of Italian wine.

Very tasty.
The train goes up a mountain or two and gets to the halfway point at Brundig.

It's all down hill from here.
Nice train.

The brakes are on all the way down.
And we arrive at Interlaken West.

After a transfer at Interlaken Ost.

A three minute ride.
Obviously a commuter station.

Notice the difference between a Swiss parking lot and a US parking lot.
And here's why.

A gas station that has a good looking price.

Except that it's in chf at about a $1.10 each and it's for a liter (quart).

That makes it about $9/gallon.

So I get to my hotel, the Rugenpark B&B,
it's a beautiful place, but it's a B&B with shared bathrooms.

That's cool with me but it freaks out Olga.

And she always wants to see the shared bathrooms, so here you are.
About 8 rooms on the floor, a shower stall and toilette, plus another small room with just a toilette.

By small, I mean in the Paris sense.
I just fit but have trouble turning around.

But they are perfectly clean.
The washbasin outside the bathroom/shower.
My room.
After I check in, I head out to the the grocery store.
A very nice store.
But they don't sell beer.
So I go downstairs and find another store that does.

This is a classic.

Original Budweiser from the Czech Republic.

I wonder what Belgium has to say about this?
My balcony view of Jungfrau.
